Air Seychelles yesterday donated SCR 250,000 to the National Disaster Relief Fund to support recovery efforts after the recent flooding caused by Tropical Depression Felleng.

Cramer Ball, Air Seychelles’ Chief Executive Officer, presented the cheque to Lekha Nair, National Disaster Relief Fund Chairperson, in a ceremony at Mahé International Airport. 

Mr. Ball said: “As the national airline, we are tied to the Seychellois people and we will do our part to ease the burden during these difficult times. The Felling recovery efforts across our community demonstrate the courage and resilience of the Creole spirit. We are proud to contribute to the effort.”

Mrs. Nair added: “Air Seychelles has once again demonstrated the true value of solidarity. This donation will go a long way to provide some respite for the affected victims and we thank you on their behalf.”

Tropical Depression Felleng caused extensive damage in the districts of Au Cap, Anse Aux Pins and Pointe Larue, as well as parts of Praslin and La Digue. More than 160 families were affected and forced into shelter homes after their houses were destroyed by landslides, rising rivers and floods.
