Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, has announced that it will increase its domestic services between Mahé and Praslin to meet strong travel demand over the coming summer peak season months.

In addition to its regular services, the airline will offer 84 extra flights per week between the two islands in July and August, representing a capacity increase of 27 per cent.

This will provide international visitors and residents with more choice and convenience when island hopping during the busiest period of the summer season, as well as support travel for the religious celebration known as the Feast of Assumption that takes place in mid-August.

In addition, Air Seychelles has scheduled 39 extra flights on the popular interisland route that will be operated every weekend from September onwards.

Roy Kinnear, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles, said: “Our Mahé-Praslin route is a pillar of our network and we expect travel demand to increase substantially as we enter the peak summer season.

“We are happy to offer these additional flights, which will ensure that we have enough capacity to accommodate both the high number of tourists and residents of Seychelles who are set to fly between the islands.

“Last year we had a fantastic response and carried a record number of passengers when we put on additional flights for the Feast of Assumption festivities, and we expect a similarly positive response this year.”

The Feast of Assumption is a Roman Catholic holiday which is dedicated to the patron saint of the island of La Digue, the Virgin Mary.

With the introduction of the new website features, residents are now able to purchase resident fares online and use all major credit cards, including those in Seychelles rupees (SCR).  Guests can book tickets through travel agents, by visiting www.airseychelles.com, or calling the Air Seychelles contact centre.
